Kiesha Onyeneho has experienced a spiritual journey on her way to becoming a certified CREIGHTON MODEL Medical Consultant Practitioner. “I shocked quite a few people, including my family, when I told them I was becoming Catholic,” she said. “I was a pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-birth control woman. I was nearly as far as one could be from the beliefs of the Catholic faith.”
Fortunately, God had other plans for Kiesha. She befriended her undergrad physics professor, who was a strong Catholic woman, and she prayed for Kiesha. “I like felt like a toddler being dragged, kicking and screaming into the faith, but I did and as I learned more and had all my questions answered,” Kiesha said. “We are built with a purpose and it is all beautifully interactive, and so that all happened my last year of medical school.”
As Kiesha had this eye-opening look into the harmonious, intelligent design of the human body, it brought more questions to her as a medical student. “I realized, oh crap, I have a whole new way of viewing the world and I’m going to be practicing medicine, and I don’t know what that means.”
Kiesha sought some of these answers from a local priest, who gave her a DVD on NaProTechnology. “It did a really good job of showing that we’re treating women’s issues with the one pill that cures it all instead of really finding the problem,” Kiesha said. “And that scientifically really drove me to NaPro. And so I knew that that was something I would likely want to get into.”
Kiesha is now working toward completing her certification as a Medical Consultant, as well as seeking a new career at a Catholic hospital where she will be able to practice medicine in according to her new faith.
