I am eager to tell you about our five-year program that, due to COVID-19 restrictions, actually took us about six years to complete. We overcame a number of related obstacles to train Spanish-speaking teachers, educators and medical consultants. Funded by a substantial grant from a supporter in Mexico, this program accomplished what no other has been able.
In this program, we trained not only FertilityCare™ Practitioners (those teaching couples the CREIGHTON MODEL FertilityCare™System), but we also trained a group of FertilityCare™Educators — Practitioners who come back for another year of training. During that second year of training, they learn how to effectively train other Practitioners. We have a number of these Educators on the staff of the Saint Paul VI Institute and help as we host our own education programs.
Let me say, this is the single, most advanced education program for teachers of any natural method currently offered. Most programs involve two or three days on the internet, perhaps a few days at a separate geographical location from the student, or some other shortened version of education. However, the CREIGHTON MODEL training programs provide one year of training under supervision, designed as an allied health education program.
The program in Mexico was co-sponsored by the Pan American School of Medicine and signed by the Dean of that school, Dr. Gregorio T. Obrador. Dr. Obrador, a terrific leader, extremely impresses me and I have been honored to work in association with him and his school (one of the best medical schools in all of Mexico).
This is the first time all of the necessary teaching materials for the CREIGHTON MODEL System — training manuals, Introductory Session presentations, and all PowerPoint slides necessary for conducting a year-long training program, etc. — have been completed and made available, fully in Spanish, for the training of these teachers. To my knowledge, no other training program exists that has really attempted to do this, and, so, we are very, very proud of this accomplishment.
First, we had to start training the Mexico Practitioners who trained as Practitioners at the Saint Paul VI Institute. We did so in English because none of us spoke Spanish. Therefore, each of the students had to be bilingual. That was a tremendous challenge and, yet, we overcame it. It has actually been done, and we are very, very happy with the results!
With this effort, we can now grow the program in the Spanish-speaking world, and there is an enormous amount of enthusiasm for it amongst that group of people.
It is because of your financial support and donors like you that we have been able to accomplish as much as we have over all of these years. This has grown and developed as a result of the Saint Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction. Also, I might add that much research has been done through the Institute. It has been a really terrific accomplishment.
So, your support with these programs is critical in developing others like them. (We have also held education programs, and have educators, in Europe, Africa, Australia, and even Asia — but available only in English.)
If this is ever to become the world-wide program we envision, we need to continue to spread it and train people to do this important, faithful work. It takes tremendous effort and produces a lot of positive elements for both the teachers and the couples who learn the CREIGHTON MODEL System, which is unique and far and away, the best natural system — primarily due to its connection to NaProTECHNOLOGY®, “life-affirming” women’s procreative healthcare.
Thanks again for all you do on our behalf. I pray that God will continue to be with you and your family in a very special way as this troubled New Year begins!
