Meet Dr. Catherine Keefe, an Obstetrician-Gynecologist at the Saint Paint VI Institute specializing in NaProTechnology, reproductive medicine and surgery. She attended St. Louis University School of Medicine and then went on to do her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.
She became interested in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology after witnessing a live birth as a college student doing an externship. She I was so excited to be a part of seeing the beginning of new life and thought, “what an amazing career this would be!” She did have some hesitations as a Catholic, however, because the field was predominated by contraception and abortion.
Fortunately, Dr. Keefe didn’t give up easily. She prayed, and God led her to a nun who was an Obstetrician-Gynecologist and ran a natural family planning center in Bethesda, Maryland. Then Dr. Keefe learned about NaProTechnology and was thrilled to find a health care system that didn’t treat fertility like a disease and got to the root causes of gynecologic health problems. She finds it rewarding to treat couples and help them achieve their dream of having children, and it’s also very satisfying to help women who have severe pain with their periods and treat them and give them their lives back.
